Richmond Neighborhood Association Elections 2020

Dear Neighbors,

At Richmond’s May virtual meeting, the RNA Board voted to hold their annual board member election in July.  There are eight 2-year seats up for election.  With the COVID-19 pandemic and not able to hold an election during a Zoom meeting, we will be hosting a social distant election at Waverly church in July. An exact date will be decided at our June 8 meeting and you can check out our website, https://richmondpdx.org/ for more information.

Any Member of the RNA can serve on the Board.  To be a Member, you must be at least 18 years old and either live in Richmond or own property or a business in Richmond (see map).

If you would like to run for the RNA Board, notify the Chair by:  attending the June 8 RNA Zoom meeting to declare your candidacy, or by June 8 email richmond.pdx.chair@gmail.com to inform the Chair of your intent to run.  I will follow up with you to confirm your eligibility to be a candidate. Candidates are encouraged to submit  an optional Candidate Statement, up to 300 words, by June 22 to richmond.pdx.chair@gmail.com.  In your Statement, please answer the questions:

  • Have you ever been to a neighborhood association meeting before?
  • Why do you want to run for the Board and what issues interest you?

The Statements will be posted to the RNA’s website (www.richmondpdx.org) and distributed via the RNA Announce listserv (rna-announce@googlegroups.com).  The Board will discuss at the June 8 meeting the idea of hosting a Zoom meeting the week before the election for candidates to give a short statement and we will explain the voting process.

Please join us at the June 8 RNA meeting.  We will discuss the July date for the election, voting logistics, and have guests give presentations.

Any questions?  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!  Richmond.pdx.chair@gmail.com.

Kind Regards,

Debby Hochhalter

RNA Chair
