SE Uplift’s Fiscal Sponsorship program extends our tax-exempt status to other groups whose work meets our mission. Sponsored groups may engage in fundraising and grant-seeking activities. SE Uplift encourages our community lead projects to fundraise and seek grants. However, we realize that their ability to raise funds is often limited by a lack of tax-exempt status. Fiscal sponsorship is simple. Organizations fill out one application for all projects that would benefit from tax-exemption. SE Uplift Executive Committee reviews and approves the application. The applicant’s leadership then sign an annual agreement outlining roles and responsibilities.
Projects must be aligned with SE Uplift’s mission statement: “To collaborate with the SE Portland community to build informed, inclusive, and participatory neighborhoods that support our social and ecological well-being.”
