ABC + Ds of Land Use: In-person training

Overview: This 2-part training is hosted by the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability, the Bureau of Development Services, and SE Uplift. Volunteers from all coalition areas are welcome to attend.

RSVP: here

What’s the purpose? The ABC+Ds of Land Use Training is designed to help new Land Use and Transportation Representatives as well as other local land use advocates better understand existing city land use laws and processes, city bureaus, key guiding documents and resources and other baseline information needed to support them in their role as a neighborhood resource. This is a 2-part training held over two sessions. The first session will focus on information important to new volunteers and advocates. The second session will focus on a next level of information and the city’s design process and provide information advocates can use to influence new development.

Who should attend? This training is open to anyone across the city. You do not need to be a new Neighborhood Land Use Representative or  affiliated with a Neighborhood Association to attend, however, the training will be tailored to volunteers and advocates interested in supporting their neighbors, organization, and community understand and navigate city systems related to planning and development.

Are you ready? In order to response to community interest in adding a design component, we have omitted some other pieces of this presentation. Therefore, for sessions 1 and 2 we assume attendees will have a baseline understanding of the Community and Neighborhood System and, if applicable, the role and responsibilities of a Land Use and Transportation Representative. If not, please review those materials here before attending this training. Thank you for your understanding!
