Welcoming Our Neighbors

Welcoming Our Neighbors from All Over the World

There are some people who want to build walls. And others who want to build bridges. If you’re a bridge builder, People-Places-Things (P-P-T) would like to invite you to help us make Portland a more welcoming place for immigrants & refugees, newcomers, and other non-native speakers of English. We are providing free cross-cultural facilitation training to Portlanders through Southeast Uplift.

Are you are interested in challenging yourself to make our communities more inclusive? Would you like to know more about volunteering with People-Places-Things? To learn about volunteering as an English language tutor and increasing your own cultural competency through meeting English language learners, come to an informational session at Southeast Uplift on January 9th from 6:30-7: 30 pm. Please contact Muz Afzal for more information at muz@seuplift.org or call (503) 232-0010 ext 319. Southeast Uplift is hopeful that our community will support this effort and be involved in creating more inclusive communities through supporting our neighbors who are English language learners.

Let’s get out there and welcome our neighbors!
